Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well.

What did you do this past week?

This week was pretty mundane to be completely honest. This class and my Artificial Intelligence class are starting to pick up, so I am excited to be able to learn and see what is in store for me. I am also on the UT Austin powerlifting team, and so I spent a lot of time looking at my workout videos and seeing what I can do to improve my technique. That is one of my favorite past times. I also finalized what I will be eating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the week. Planning meals allows me to be frugal, and spend more time studying.

What’s in your way?

Currently, nothing is in my way. It is up to me to stay up to speed in all of my classes, and genuinely learn the information.

What will you do next week?

Next week, my family is coming to visit from Dallas, so I will be spending the majority of my weekend with them. Hopefully we will go to San Marcos to shop at the outlets.

What did you think of the makefile?

I really enjoyed annotating the makefile. It is always fascinating to see the inner workings of programming. A lot of the time, people think its just type code, run, and turn in, but the details go beyond that. It was very informative to look at the makefile, and get a glimpse into how code is compiled.

What was your experience of Docker?

I have not used Docker yet, I have only heard about it in class. However, it seems promising and I have only heard amazing things about the software.

What was your experience of assertions?

This was my first time learning about assertions. They seem like a very useful tool for pre and post conditions, but I also believe that you must be very careful of their use as well. They can easily cause crashes and can be a way for the user to crash programs, which gives rise to malice.

What was your experience of unit tests?

This was also my first time hearing about unit tests. I like the organizational structure of the unit test framework. Before I learned about unit tests, I would always write unorganized and simple test cases, which probably let a plethora of bugs slip past my grasp.

What made you happy this week?

One thing that made me happy this week was being able to eat Chick Fil A. After a hard week, I rewarded myself with a mint milkshake. Exquisite.

What’s your pick-of-the-week?

For my pick of the week, I read in the news that a quantum computing company called Classiq secured $14.5 million for funding. This will hopefully lead to some advances in the field.
